Prowling Reward Item Types

About Item Types
There are three main items types which are delivered from Prowling. Two of these are collectable items and power items, which are instrumental to enhancing your vampire's strength in core gameplay. The third is a customization item that's just damned fun!

Collectable Items
These are items which have no stat value and are not used in fights, but are generally important ingredients for fusion. Your current collection of these items can be viewed on your Profile > Assets screen, in the Special Collectables category.

Power Items
These are items which have an inherent stat value and are used in your fights with other players. Your current collection of these items can be viewed on your Profile > Assets screen, in the Powers & Abilities category.

The importance of any collectable is always determined by your current gameplay goals. However there are some rare item types. Rare items types are those which are discovered infrequently, and are used to create top-tier powers for those in the upper-most levels. Since this is true it's easy to discern which items are the most difficult to attain by viewing the ingredients of the strongest fusion powers.

Avatars
Avatars are customization items that you can use to give your Profile screen a personal flair. There are hundreds of free avatars scattered through Prowling, including Enemy Avatars, which can be earned as a very rare reward from defeating any boss.

Avatars are instantly given when discovered and do not require fusion to claim. You will never discover the same avatar twice, so you can feel secure that should you discover a new avatar it will be new to your collection!

Collectable Items as Ingredients
Regardless of your level, throughout your prowling experience you'll be collecting numerous collectables in every successful prowl. Each item you receive has a unique purpose as an ingredient, and falls into a certain category depending on its use. Here we'll explore what these are and their purpose.

All of the collectable ingredients can be broken down into groups which identify their purpose.

Basic Materials
Materials (or Mats) are the standard of all collectable types. Each are used to craft entry-level power upgrades as well as advanced collectables. These will be the majority of what you'll be collecting, and understanding which are relative to your goals can help you determine which areas to prowl in.

Basic mats have two important facets to understand. One is how they are discovered, and one is how they are classified.

First, basic mats can be discovered from choosing between four unique locational categories. For now, let's call these categories farming methods. Farming methods span through: Logging, Mining, Gathering, and Hunting. Each method will deliver one of [6] different types of basic mats.

Further, basic mats are also relative to the Physical, Mental, and Supernatural power disciplines. Each of the three disciplines has [8] individual basic mats which are discoverable, making for a grand total of [24] discoverable basic materials.

Items such as Nightwood, Protolithic Rock, Native Carrion, and Ossified Matter are examples of basic mats in the Physical discipline. Items from this discipline will only ever be used to create Physical powers.

Items such as Petrified Bark, Theurgical Iron, White Eye Water, and Bone Ash are related to the Mental discipline, and will only ever be used to create Mental powers.

This carries on exactly into the Supernatural discipline, where items such as Trickwood Branch, Obsidian Glass, Residual Ectoplasm, and Hammered Sinew follow the same rules.

Put these two facets of discovery and classification together, and you'll have a firm understanding of where to spend your prowls based on your needs.

Bloodline Materials
Skins and blood drops from all four bloodlines are discoverable. As they are directly related to the bloodlines, these mats are used in creating bloodline-specific power upgrades.

These bloodline mats are not discipline specific and may be used throughout each of the Physical, Mental, and Supernatural disciplines.

While Bloodline Skins and Bloodline Blood Drops are given as rewards from successful prowls and boss fights, they are technically not included within the reward sets. Rather they are distributed through a global pool.

This pool is not specific to any one area, but is active over all areas. This means that regardless of whether you're fighting a boss or ending a narrative adventure in any location and in any episode, you'll always have a chance at attaining these items.

Proficiencies
For those in the mid to upper levels of the game, you'll eventually need Proficiencies to craft nearly any power. Proficiencies are a testament to your vampire's knowledge and experience, and are crafted from a number of basic mats.

For example, to create the logging Physical proficiency, Melee Prowess, you'll require ten Nightwood. Proficiencies such as in this example are required for nearly all high-end power fusions, regardless of their origins.

While the amount of basic material ingredients required to craft any proficiency will be the same, some powers may require more than one proficiency as its required ingredients.

Because proficiencies are created from basic mats, and basic mats each are governed by a discipline, so too are proficiencies related to disciplines. In the example above, Melee Prowess was crafted from Nightwood, making it a Physical proficiency. An example of a Mental proficiency would be Psionic Acumen, which is fused from Petrified Bark; This is true for the last discipline, where Manipulation Prowess would be fused from Trickwood Branch, which is from the Supernatural discipline, respectively.

Tip: Disciplines can be discovered on images for materials and proficiencies by noting their colored backgrounds. Red for Physical, Purple for Mental, and Cyan for Supernatural

Bloodline Proficiencies
Not unlike bloodline mats, bloodline proficiencies are required for fusing high-end, bloodline-specific powers. These proficiencies require a combination of basic mats and bloodline mats. As bloodline powers have an inherent stat-boost to matching bloodlines, farming the correct ingredients is slightly more challenging.

Workables
This category groups together area collectables which are typically discovered passively and allocated to specific areas. They can't be actively farmed as successfully as basic mats. Still they are quite important to filling in gaps between red-blood powers upgrades—making them vital to staying competitive in PvP.

As such you can reproduce these items as a Workable if you're willing to sacrifice your basic mats. In example, you will only ever find a Discarded Bounty Sheet as an alternative reward while hunting bosses in Maiden's Casket. However you can recreate one Discarded Bounty Sheet by fusing one Nightwood. This allows you to expand your goals for powers and opens up new strategies to outdo your opponents.

Special Ingredients
This group of collectables covers specific ingredients which are required for unique powers. These items are only fusible by discovering ingredients via Prowling or Missions of Darkness. Not unlike proficiencies, these collectables can only be attained by fusion or as event rewards. Learn more about these unique powers in the powers section below!

Apex Collectables
As the name implies, this selection of collectables is specific to the strongest powers one can fuse from all of Prowling's offerings. The collectables in this group have a very low chance of being discovered in any location and any area, regardless of your success type. Learn more about these amazing powers in the powers section below!

Fusing Powers
Through your prowling experience you'll be collecting numerous collectables to fuse new powers. There are many powers to create, ranging from upgrades to your native red-blood arsenal, to those only available via prowling. Here we'll explore what these are and how to begin your path to fusing them.

Note that unlike collectables, all fusion powers are level-dependent. This means that each power will require a specific level to be attained before you can create it. This helps to exemplify your vampire's experience, and also prevents players under that level from becoming more powerful than they should, while still offering goals as one moves through the levels.

The available fusion Powers can be broken down into groups which help identify their ingredients and how to attain them.

Red-Blood II Upgrades
When you begin the game your arsenal consists of red-blood powers. These powers are inherent and learnable to your vampire; they cost red-blood to learn and more for regular upkeep. In return they give you the ability to compete with other vampires in your level range.

These very same powers are upgradable through crafting, by prowling, collecting ingredients, and fusing them. Red-blood Upgrade powers (sometimes called twos by the "II" addition given to their name) takes your original power, adds in ingredients, and returns a version of that same power with significantly boosted stats.

As your level increases so will the stats of the power, the required ingredients, and the time it takes to fuse.

Since these upgrades will become more and more powerful based on your level, upgrading your red-blood powers is a vital aspect of either staying competitive in your level range and/or having the edge over another player who may choose not to upgrade.

Note that in order to upgrade your power you must first be of the appropriate level to purchase the original with red-blood, and then have the correct basic mats or proficiencies to fuse them.

Upgrades can be viewed and/or fused on the Fusion, filter by Power Upgrades screen.

Basic Fusion Powers
This selection of powers are acquired solely from collectable ingredients found in Prowling, and are only able to be crafted via Fusion. These powers have specific level requirements which span through and between red-blood upgrades. This makes them excellent options for stepping up stat increments between upgrades or—depending on your ingredients collected—in place of them altogether.

While level spans will differentiate Prowling fusion powers from those upgraded with red blood powers, so will the required ingredients. Prowling fusion powers will require special ingredients, which can be discovered while prowling or crafted individually from materials.

The majority of collectable ingredients for these powers may be discovered in any location during any prowling. However Spell of Transmutation [SOT], Spell of Equilibrium [SOE], or Spell of Dissolution [SOD] must be created. Each of these spells are specific to a stat purpose, with Transmutation creating attack, Equilibrium for equal stats, and Dissolution for defense.

Area-Drop Fusion Powers
While prowling within specific continents, you may occasionally discover powers with unusually low stats. While they may appear as "useless" at first glance, do not disregard them! At levels 45, 90, 1000, and 3015, your fastidious skills in fusion can take these unusable powers and recreate them into very powerful utilities for your arsenal.

When fused to a new power, only one side of your stats is affected: either your attack or defense. You'll have a significant boost in whichever you choose.

While these powers can be recreated from their 1/1 base stat to a new power, they cannot be further upgraded. That said, simply acquire a new 1/1 area drop, gather the correct ingredients, and you can create a stronger iteration at whichever required level you like!

Tip: Area-drop Fusions have no Red Blood upkeeps!

Apex Fusion Powers
Apex (or Elite) powers are those Basic and Area-Drop fusion powers which may only be unlocked at level 3015, and covering top-tier attack and defense in each discipline. Attaining them will certainly be as much a mark of mettle as of achievement, because the fusion requirements will test both your time and resources.

Apex Basic fusion powers will be the best of the best, but require a swath of Proficiencies and unique apex collectables which can rarely be found in any given location. Meanwhile Apex Area-Drop powers are slightly less strong. While they require much less to craft, they'll cost more Area Drop powers in their requirements.
