Potions Are Here!

Modified on Wed, 6 Mar at 7:01 PM

Greetings, Darksiders!

The first wave of 2024 newness is heading your way! We hope it will make the rest of the year a little more exciting as head into more updates later on. After today's update, a new category of consumables will become available: Potions! Let's take a dive into just what these are.

Council Potions Beta!

Council Potions, you say? Indeed! The Council > Market tab will have new inventory available that's absolutely going to spice up your daily and event gameplay!

Council potions are purchasable consumables which will act similar to (and interact with) Relics. Each potion has a direct relic counterpart, so understanding what a potion does is easy. Meanwhile, the potions are much more powerful than your relics... and become even more powerful when used in combination with an active relic.

Once purchased, it's delivered to your Items inventory. Which means with just a click of your mouse you can pop a potion at your whim and reap its benefits. You can do this with or without a relic—but the advantage to having an active relic are clear.

Here's just one example:

Imagine you've just discovered the Seven Lock of Samson relic. Now that you have it, you're outputting up to 50% more damage on every attack. During this time, if you purchase and use the Onslaught Potion—which gives you up to 75% more damage—it stacks with your relic. This makes a total of up to 125% more damage on every attack for the duration of your potion!

Whoa.

There are a commensurate amount of potions coming (seven in total), each of which ties in to a current relic. An especially exciting potion arrival is Anti-Toxin, which will completely save you from the effects of enemy blood poison, and can be used while your own blood is poisoned.

We've covered all the bases here, with Attack, Damage, Defense, XP, and even Blood. Let's take a peek at each one and see how they work.

• Potions are unlimited in how many you can store in your catacombs

• Potions are launching as a BETA feature (see more below)

How to Acquire Potions

When potions launch today, on March 6, 2024, everyone in the game will receive x1 of each potion type. They'll be in your Items inventory (Catacombs > Passage 1) and you'll be free to give them all a whirl and see how you like them!

To acquire more, you'll want to visit the Council 's Market tab, where you'll be able to choose any potion you like. Prices vary by potion!

⚠ Important: Potions are launching as a BETA! feature. Barring any unforeseen exploits or severe bugs, we expect potions will remain consistently available. However after some time out in the wild to review usage and balance, along with any feedback from you, we may make changes to effects, times, limits, pricing, or more.

Any changes made to potions will effect not only future potions purchased, but also any in your inventory at the time of adjustment. We will, as always, alert you to any changes made to potions during the BETA! period. Beta (aka, public testing phase) has no set time limit. We want to gather data on these items to ensure their balance against daily and event gameplay.

Miscellaneous Updates

Along with bringing potions to the Council Market, we've made a few other minor adjustments:

• Fight > Relics
Relics menu has been updated to include active potions, and is now dynamic. When no relics or potions are active, there will be no menu at the top of the page. When a relic or potion becomes active, they will appear at the top, complete with timers.

• All Community Support Helpdesk links have been updated to reflect our new home at Freshdesk.

Sorry that took so long! If you happen to catch one we missed, please let us know!

Future Feature Projects

We're working hard to simultaneously bring Vampires: The Darkside and Vampires Dark Rising some important features. Designing and implementing for two games across four platforms means that development is taking a little longer than you're used to, and we thank you for your patience.

As you may have heard through commentary on the App Page, our current focus is on rewiring Main Events into a new format. It has been a very challenging endeavor but progress is absolutely being made. We still feel that we're lined up to bring this new format to you this year. So please be reminded that your 2024 Event Calendar and rules pages are placeholders subject to change when we're ready to go.

Changes you'll be looking at to this new event system shouldn't be too steep on your side. We're aiming to keep the mechanics familiarity you're used, but specifically aiming for a better way to manage reward retrieval, team participation and motivation, with a focus on making gameplay goals a little easier to digest. We'll keep you up to date on that!

Meanwhile our project list has a load of exciting stuff. We typically don't like to announce things that aren't nearing completion because we hate disappointing you, but we do want you to know VDS has a bright future ahead.  So we're going to give a glimpse of the list in a generalized way.

After events are changed over—written here in no particular order—we'll be focusing on bringing further necessary additions, such as a Daily Rewards system, a free daily gift system, a Guild system (vaguely similar to Houses) that will be integrated into the game and accessible to all, a new and large gameplay feature update, a prowling event type, and more. Please note that if we're not currently working on it, it isn't written in stone, but we're all super psyched to see this stuff make its way to you.

When we're through with these items we'll be looking at giving VDS the quality of life attention it deserves in various places throughout the game. This means balances, adjustments, integrations, and additions to Runes, Prowling, and more!

We'll be back with more announcements soon!
