Avatars: Customize Your Picture

About Avatars
Avatars in VDR are premade 2D artworks that can be attained ingame to represent you on your profile! There are numerous avatars available in the game, and can be changed anytime. Avatars come in a variety of visual content, spanning numerous themes, characters, items, backgrounds, and more!

Your Personal Avatar Collection
Every avatar you attain in the game is collected and stored forever for your future customization. Your personal collection can be accessed by visiting Profile > Gallery. From here you can preview and apply any avatar that suits your mood!

Your personal collection as a new player begins with 5 different default avatars. One is the VDR logo, with the other four being male and female characters that are based on your bloodline. Each bloodline will have different male and female default avatars, with more planned to arrive in the future!

Attaining Avatars for Free
You can begin building your avatar collection for free, just by playing the game! While Prowling in any location you'll have a chance to be awarded with an avatar. Meanwhile defeating any enemy (boss) has a chance to reward you with their art as a free avatar.

Free Collection: Enemy Avatars
Avatars received from successful enemy encounters are specific special rewards. When obtained, they will always be the image of the boss you defeated. Once that avatar is in your collection, you will not receive it again. This makes sure that your rewards are not wasted on doubles!

There are 200+ unique boss enemies in Prowling, paving the way for over 200 avatars to be discovered from bosses alone. Boss avatars can be denoted by their black border, where all other avatars are borderless.

Free Collection: Episode Avatars
Avatars received from narrative prowling episodes are part of one single pool of 870+ avatars, where at the time of reward the avatar is selected randomly. Once you've attained that avatar, you will not receive it again. This makes sure that your rewards are not wasted on doubles!

During development, these avatars were created based on [5] central themes: Items, Backgrounds, Female characters, Male characters, and Creatures. Note that these themes were developed only to guide the direction of the art so as to offer the most well-rounded and interesting selections possible. There are no official themes in the game, and all avatars are unnamed.  

• In the Items theme, there are currently [85] avatars available to be discovered

• In the Backgrounds theme, there are currently [223] avatars available to be discovered

• In the Female theme, there are currently [257] avatars available to be discovered

• In the Male theme, there are currently [190] avatars available to be discovered

• In the Creatures theme, there are currently [123] avatars available to be discovered

Buying Avatars in the Crypt
Crypt avatars are special in that they can't be found anywhere else in the game. So if you're looking to up your collection in a hurry, don't hesitate to drop by the Crypt and touch the Avatars Shop, where fresh avatars are offered for sale every 24hrs.

Crypt avatars are purchased with Instinct Points. If the current selection isn't exactly what you're looking for, you can instantly refresh the selection using Favor Points. It's important to remember that instantly refreshing your selection with Favor Points will also reset the Crypt's New Avatars timer—making it a great way to set a more convenient time for your avatars to roll over!

Note: The Crypt's avatar selection is displayed randomly. This means that everyone in the game will see different avatars at the Crypt. Also note that upon refreshing the Crypt's avatar selection, it is possible to see an avatar you've already purchased. You'll know you already own this avatar if the purchase button is no longer available. 

The Future of Avatars

Avatars have proven to be highly popular and much sought-after items in the game. Expect that as time goes on we will continue to add more avatars to the game as free rewards in Prowling, potentially other features, and in the Crypt's Avatar Shop to freshen it up in the future. Avatars may also be giftable in the future, so that you can trade with your friends or simply clear up some space to rediscover those items again.
