Account Validation & Backup Tools

About Validation:
Vampires: The Darkside opened on the Facebook platform in 2009. In 2026 the game will move away from Facebook to its own webspace. 


This Account Validation Tool is a webpage which will prompt you to use Facebook Login to sign in, and then verify your primary VDS data, such as your Player Name and your Dark Mark.

Once used, your own verification of your correct account information will ensure that when VDS is on its own website you'll be able to confidently log in and connect to your account.


About Account Backup:
As well as the validating your account, we're also providing you a way to "backup" your account. This can be done by providing us with a valid email and password. This system has been put in place for us to be able to verify who you are should there by any issue which prevents you from accessing your account at the time of login.


In that unlikely scenario, you would contact us here at the CSD and we would confirm your "backup" email and password with us so that we can verify your identity (without invading your privacy), and connect you manually to your account.


In the Future:
We are looking at providing sign-in options that do not require Facebook login. One of these options would be a traditional email/password login option. By using this Account Backup now, you'll get a head start on having the option of using that future system.


Account Validation Instructions:


⚠️ Important: Make sure you know your current VDS player name and Dark Mark before attempting to use this tool, so you can properly identify this information when it is presented.


1. Make sure that your current browser* has pop-ups enabled, then visit this link: Account Validation


2. With pop-ups enabled, you will be prompted by a Facebook dialog pop-up asking you to sign into Facebook. Use your proper Facebook credentials and login**


3. Once logged in, the Account Validation information will populate with your Player Name and your Dark mark. Check to make sure these are correct to your account


4. If the information is correct, press Confirm, and move on to the Account Backup option

Troubleshooting:

• If you do not receive a the Facebook sign-in dialog as soon as you enter the page, your browser may be automatically blocking pop-ups. Please enable pop-ups and try the page again.

• If your player name and Dark Mark are blank when you are on the page, your browser may be automatically blocking pop-ups. Please enable pop-ups and try the page again. 

• If your player name and Dark Mark do not match your personal account information, please contact us immediately to let us know


* We recommend using Chrome or Edge browsers. We have seen issues using Safari.

** Using this dialog signs you in via Facebook. We cannot not see or store this information. You must use the same sign-in information as you do when you log into Facebook normally. If you do not use the correct sign-in information, the page will not be able to validate you.



Backup Account Instructions:

⚠️ Important: Backing up your account is optional. You may choose to skip this section by clicking Skip/Already Done*. However we strongly recommend that you use this option to secure access to your account.


1. Enter a valid email address**


2. Choose a password*** with 8 characters or more


3. Confirm your password


4. Click Save Backup Identity


5. If this was successful, please move on to the "Re-check" instructions below


Troubleshooting:

• If you click Save Backup and nothing happens on the page, look for a warning reminding you to use an 8 character or more password

• If you did the above troubleshooting and do not see this warning, please attempt to use another browser

• If you are having another issue not listed on this page, please contact us so we can assist you


* With a successful FB Login, pressing Skip/Already done will return you to VDS. 

**1 We strongly recommend using a valid email address. This information will help us privately identify you and connect you to your account if there is an unexpected problem. This email address can be any valid address of your choosing. Using an invalid email address puts you at risk of losing access to your account during a technical issue.

**2 In the future, when the traditional email/password login system is created, a valid email address will allow you to reset your own password at your convenience through email correspondence.  

*** Your password can be anything of your choosing. Its creation is your responsibility to log or remember, and the only restriction is that it contains 8 characters or more. A strong password will include letters, numbers, and at least one capital letter.



Re-Check All information:

⚠️ Important: After your successful account backup is complete, checking your information on this page a second time will allow you to feel confident you will be able to automatically access your account when VDS moves to its own webspace.


1. Return to this link: Account Validation


2. Once logged in, check again to make sure your player name and Dark Mark are correct to your account 


2. Also verify that you see a portion* of your backed up email, displayed just below your player information.


3. If the information is correct, press Confirm


4. You may now click Skip/Already Done**, and you'll automatically enter VDS


* Only a portion of your provided email address will display on the verification page. This is to protect your privacy, ensuring that no one else can retrieve your email information.
** With a successful FB Login, pressing Skip/Already done will return you to VDS.




The VDS Account Validation tool can be accessed any time simply by visiting the link to it. It may also be bookmarked. However, please note that if you repeatedly use the Account Backup section, only your most recently used email and password combination will be saved. We recommend only using the backup once.


Also note that this Validation Tool is specific to users who are connected to the game through Facebook, whether this was previous to our move or after. Anyone using a different method of Login will not be able to appropriately use this tool.
