Awards 2.0 Launch

Modified on Fri, 20 Sep at 12:25 PM

 Salutations, Vampire!

Bloodbath is coming
September 27, 2024... and this will be the first day of something entirely new

We’ll be introducing a new way to offer event awards.

We’re calling it Awards 2.0, and we’ll be using this new system for all Main Events going forward.

✦ Main Events | About Awards 2.0

Up to now, you’ve been accustomed to discovering a litany of collectibles as you fight.

From Fresh Blood to Anarchos, to various alchemy ingredients; any of which you would fuse into new abilities.

Then, after the event you’d wait on us to flood your inventory with various other powers and items depending on your team or personal placement.

You didn’t have a choice in any of it. That’s just the way it worked. But on this next event (and every main event to come), the power of choice is now yours.

Say goodbye to those various collectables.

Instead, you’ll discover something new!

An Event Sigil.

It will be the only item to collect. And the more you play, the more you’ll find.

You’ll then take the sigils you’ve earned and bring them to the Crypt, and enter a new place called the ⥃Exchange Shop

This is your personal shop, where you’ll choose your own event rewards by trading in your Sigils.

Here, you’ll be able to decide which discipline you’re interested in, whether you want Attack or Defense abilities, and whether you want them in single or bulk amounts.

These choices will be filterable by three tiers of power: Low, Mid, and Top. Each tier defines a stat grade and how much each power costs in Sigils.

This same kind of trade access will be yours with Attack mods, Defense Mods, Potions, and event resource consumables.

As limited supplies exist for Exchange items , your only restriction will be any item’s availability. Once an item's availability reaches zero, it will be sold out for you until the next event!

Post-event roll out awards will still be received (and yes, it will still take 3 - 5 days)... but these rewards will now consist of allotments of even more Sigils, along with team and category winner-trophies to show off in your personal assets.

Meanwhile, the ⥃Exchange Shop will remain open until the next month’s main event. You’ll have that amount of time to spend all of your Sigils.

Main Events | Shop & Sigil Resets

A wise vampire knows when to let go. So it must be with Sigils! As Sigils represent your contribution to the current event, when the next new event comes your Sigils will reset to zero [0].

You’ll want to be sure you've traded as much as you can before then.

At the same time as your Sigils are reset, the ⥃Exchange Shop will magically refresh itself. New tiered abilities may become available for you to peruse with the same costs and supply as the last.

This isn’t the only magic the shop has in store, as it will tailor itself to the type of event you’re playing.

For example any team event (such as Bloodbath), will have its own items to offer — where any solo event (such as Anarchy or Necroreaping), will have their own different selections of abilities and items.

⥃Exchange Shop Exclusives

As well as everything you’ve learned above, there will also be some exclusive items available for Instinct Points, which will only be offered during any event.

Expect to find exciting new customization items such as Avatars, Banners, and more! These items will also sell out after purchase and will refresh upon each new event.

✦ Details | XP Mini-events
Increased XP mini-events will continue on as normal. But it’s important to note that the ⥃Exchange Shop is for Main Events only. Increased XP mini-events will not apply.

Increased XP events do not reset Sigils, and the most recent ⥃Exchange Shop will remain open through any XP event.

✦ Details | Tiered Abilities

Abilities available in the Top, Mid, and Low tiers are essentially the same in name and image.

However you can denote the differences between them anywhere by the symbol which precedes their names.

⚆ = Low   |   ⚇ = Mid   |   ♾ = Top

For example:
A Top Tier
Bat Storm will have a Top-Tier symbol, and be viewed as: ♾ Bat Storm, with the highest stat.

A Mid Tier Bat Storm will have a Mid-Tier symbol, and be viewed as: ⚇ Bat Storm, with a medium stat.

A Low Tier Bat Storm will have a Low-Tier symbol, and be viewed as: ⚆ Bat Storm, with a lower stat.

As previously mentioned, these tiers also affect their sigil cost. Top tier powers are more expensive to trade than Low tier powers.

This is implemented to balance players with less spendable rage to those who have more spendable rage.

While trades are entirely up to you, we recommend trading your sigils for powers within your tier.

Trading for powers higher than your tier may put you at a disadvantage in your daily gameplay, as you may not be able to collect enough to make a difference in your daily fights.

You can see which tier best applies to you by comparing event tiered-stats to your highest available red-blood power stats.

If you find that you are exchanging in the right tier, but the sigil cost is too expensive, this is an indication that you may need to allocate more Skill Points to rage. You'll want to focus on this as you level up.

✧ Note | Fusion & Inventory Changes

The Awards 2.0 method has deprecated all existing event collectables and obsoleted the need for event Fusion recipes.

Thus, at launch, fusion recipes having to do with any and all events will be removed. We’ll also be clearing out your inventories of all your existing event-specific collectables.

⚠ Now is the time to fuse these items if you have leftovers!

Affected collectable items are:

Anarchos

Ex Libris Abominus

Mechanical Materials

Heart of Darkness

Fresh Therian Blood

Fresh Lycan Blood

Fresh Mortal Blood

Fresh Witch Blood

Singing Bowl

Ichor of Caine

Abeyant Runes

Quiescent Phangdryte

Flawless Nightstone

Aberrant Dark Essence

Details | Abilities, Buffs, & You

Past Team Event abilities will be going away, to be replaced with newer more powerful options. However most previous Solo Event powers will continued to be offered in the ⥃Exchange Shop during their respective event times.

In order to make this happen, many of these familiar powers will become Top Tier powers and receive stat increases. Effectively, this will mean anyone who currently has these powers in their inventory will see a slight increase (buff) to their overall strength.

✧ Even More Stuff!

In bringing you Awards 2.0, we’ve taken the time to make some other additions and revisions to make accessing Event information more convenient.

VDR+

New Look
As of this announcement, visiting VDR+ has a new mobile-friendly look. We’ve taken this visual approach over to your Event screens, too.

Everything should be much easier to read and navigate. Feel free to push all the buttons. It's fun!

New Event Portal

First and foremost, you’ll see you now have an Event Portal. The Portal is your new event calendar, detailing which events are coming to you each month through the entire year.

As well as laying out the year's event dates, you may also tap through on the event names to quickly access that event's Theme, Rules, and Awards screens.

We’re looking forward to bringing you new events and new event types, so this will be super handy!

Rising Lore

We’ve also tidied up the Rising Lore screen, making it a more pleasant read through on mobile!

Updating & Updated

We may need to update VDR+ on occasion. You can now find an “Update VDR+” button at the bottom of the screen. This is still a simple browser refresh, and will only refresh the screen you’re looking at. Don’t worry if you bump it!

Just below this button is a “Last Updated” text. Paying attention to the date here means you can be assured you always have the latest information. If it changes, there was an update and now you’re updated. If not, you’re good to go!

You may need to refresh your current VDR+ screen to see the changes discussed here

✧ New Event Types & Goodbye Deadfall

We are temporarily vaulting the Deadfall event as we consider retooling it to operate differently. In the meantime please know that we have plans to bring other exciting new event types to you soon!

 Future Features
As an Indy Startup of only a few very creative people, it can take us a little while to fully develop and test new things. That said, we have much more for you in the works.

Please be patient with us as we continue to build the Rising into the vampire playland of your dreams!

We have plans to make Awards 2.0 even more exciting in the future! Stay tuned for that in a future update, and keep your eyes peeled for announcements on the other new features we're cooking up.

We’ll have more for you soon. Thanks for being a part of the Rising!
