VDR Avatar Submission

Modified on Thu, 19 Oct, 2023 at 6:03 PM

As our partnership with Gravatar comes to end, we know many of you out there have grown accustomed to representing your character through your profile art. In acknowledgement of this, between Nov 1, and Nov 5, 2021 we’ll be allowing a single, one-time only submission to the CSD of your Avatar.

Once reviewed and approved your submission will be added to your personal Avatar Gallery to be permanently used ingame. We want your art to look comfortable against other avatars in VDR, so we do require some specifications to be met before you submit. Please read through this article very carefully.

Avatar Submission: What to Submit

• Avatar must be square, 350 x 350 pixels in dimension, and of the .PNG filetype
• The filename of your avatar should have the closest approximation to your VDR name as possible
• Avatar must be your original art, or used with verifiable permissions from another artist
• Avatar should be a borderless image which clearly depicts its visual contents
• Avatar should be of an image only
• One single avatar

Avatar Submission: What Not to Submit

• Inappropriate Content (racism, pornographic nudity, sex, drugs, hatefulness, etc)
• Copyrighted artwork, or any work used without artist permissions (images from Google etc)
• Text and/or symbols in your image
• Blurry or abstract images
• Borders around the image
• More than one avatar

Things to Keep in Mind
We strongly recommend that you do not use an image which depicts yourself in real life. Online environments and relationships can be flippant. While it’s your personal decision, we’re always of the stance that all personal information should remain personal.

Your Avatar submission should be original art—that’s to say created by you or for you by someone else. Don’t worry, we’re not here to judge your talent or grade your work. We simply want to ensure it meets the guidelines.

Know that we will not be accepting any work that is taken directly from a search engine (such as Google), as much of this content falls under copyright domain. We also will not accept art made by someone other than you without verifiable permissions included, as this too can lead to issues of copyright.

If you’re unsure whether the art you want to submit is copyrighted, the best thing to do is not to submit it. Rather you should choose an image you know is free of copyright to use, or contact a knowledgeable artist who can create to your needs and supply written permissions.

Take care in your submission. Our community is only as strong as its members!

What Happens Next
Your avatar and associated information will be reviewed by the Kwaai Software team. Please note that we are only allowing for one single avatar to be added to your account between the specific dates listed above. Any submission entered beyond the dates listed above will be denied.

How We Review
1. The team will physically read through your submission and view your image. Members of our team have decades of experience in the art industry and are as knowledgeable as they are talented. We will be relying heartily on them to discern your submissions by the guidelines we’ve set.

2. Should your Avatar submission be denied for any reason, we’ll explain why. If it’s a matter of simple editing, you may be encouraged to resubmit your edited avatar for a second review.

3. It may take us some extra time should we need to contact an artist to verify usage permissions. Please be patient with us as we work. If there are any issues we will update you.

4. When your avatar is approved, you’ll see it appear as a selectable option in your Avatar Collection ingame and you’re good to go!
